What Credit Score do management companies of rental apartment buildings accept?
We are a couple looking to rent an apartment in an upscale neighborhood. We are both employed and our joint income is over 4 times the rent amount. One of us has A Credit Score in the upper 600's and the other has only begun Building Credit after moving here from another country. Neither of us have rented in this country before (one has rented in another country while the other has lived in a house co-owned with siblings).
Should we expect difficulty in getting approved? Should we submit the application with a letter explaining why one of us has No Credit? I mean, legal immigrants are allowed to rent nice places if they can afford them, aren't they?
I don't want to force anyone to do anything. I'm trying to find out whether adding a letter explaining the reason for one of us having no credit yet might help.
