Can I sue major corporation for credit discrimination?
I have been working for this company now for over a year. I got my first promotion after being there for 3 months. Earned my next promotion 2 months later. To move up to the assistant manager position I had to attend a 2 day training class (which obtained high test grades), submit to drug testing, a Credit Check, and fill out a training manual. My manager and district manager agreed that my reviews were excellent. The district manager and marketing rep. were talking about me running my own store one day. Until My Credit report came back!! I have school loans one of which was being garnished- and is now paid. Sallie Mae is in default. I turned down another job making $4 more an hour, because I was looking for a term career. Can I sue this corp. for discrimination of A Credit score or for anything along those lines? My manager and district manager agree that this isn't fair. But they say, "It's corporate".
There is no law against basing hiring or promotions on Credit Scores. Moreover, there are legitimate reasons A Credit Score is relevant in your situation. This is why credit scores are important.
