What's the difference between fico score and the credit score.?
I had recently checked My Credit score with 3 Credit Bureaus i had a low score from equifax, medium score on trans union and a high score on experian. and my fico score was high as well. JUst curious to find out why they are not even. The differnce between my equifax and experian was close to about 100 points! what can i do tochange this.. remeber that I've been paying bills as well as making cc payments on time, including paying over the minimum requirement. anyone have an answer !
A FICO score is Your Credit Score, however not all Credit Scores are FICO scores. The 3 main credit bureaus each have their own Credit Scoring systems, as well as a FICO competitor called Vantage.
The FICO score is the only one that matters so far. When you go to buy a house, they are only checking FICO scores, not the other ones. If they offer to sell you your credit score, and it's not FICO, don't buy it, because it's worthless.
There is typically some variation in the Credit Reports from each agency. Some have accounts not in others, some have errors, etc. Check each report and make sure everything is 100% accurate. Dispute any error, even tiny ones like your address. Once everything is 100% accurate, then get your FICO scores again. There still will be some variation, but usually far less than 100 points.
